Sunshine Quilting Bee Schedule
Come JOIN US at our monthly Bee and work alongside your fellow quilters.
It is a fun and rewarding experience.
Quilters can pick up kits for piecing, quilt binding for quilts, sew a quilt top or work on comfort pillows
"To all those who have contributed to the Sunshine quilt making service project, great job! As of the end of June 2025, we distributed over 500 quilts and pillows to various hospitals, nursing homes, group homes, and individuals who were experiencing a difficult time in their lives. Comfort pillows and heart pillows are also being distributed to our veterans, cancer patients and those experiencing emotional health issues.
Remember – it takes a ‘village’ and I am proud to be part of our Garden State Quilters ‘village’.", Jean.

The 200 Heart Pillows that GSQ has given to MHA have been shared with children and their family members, veterans and formerly homeless individuals as they transition into housing. Counselors in 988 Crisis Response teams in Hudson County and Arrive Together (in cooperation with Morris County police departments) carry the pillows in their cars for children needing comfort during a family or mental health crisis.
Counselors say that giving a client a tangible object that can be hugged, carried, punched and cried into has significant therapeutic value. Both MHA staff and clients are deeply appreciative of GSQ generous pillow donations.
