OCTOBER 2025
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Meeting begins at 7:15 p.m.

Our Member Jackie Laba will present her "Quilting Journey" at our meeting on October 13th @ 7:30 p.m.

Jackie Laba began making quilts in the late 1970s after her first child was born and continued to quilt until returning to the workforce.  After 29 years as an English teacher, she returned to the hobby she had enjoyed so much.

There was a lot to learn because new tools and new techniques had changed over the years.  The turning point in her quilting journey occurred when she joined the North Jersey Modern Quilt Guild and became fascinated by the designs and aesthetic of the modern quilting movement.  Later she joined the Garden State Quilters Guild where she worked on the newsletter and served one year as Guild Vice President.  Her work has been juried into several quilt shows, two pieces have appeared in quilting magazines, and she has taught workshops in free motion quilting and, most recently, curved piecing. In her presentation, she will share some quilts, advice, and a few jokes.

Tara Miller will be our speaker at the GSQG general meeting via ZOOM, January 12, 2026 @ 7:30 p.m. Tara's lecture is The Magic of Mixing Prints

"Mixing prints doesn't have to feel overwhelming - in fact, it can be the most joyful part of the process."

She will show you how to break out of the “matching” mindset and start combining fabrics from different designers, collections, and eras with ease.  You’ll learn how to mix color, scale, and motif in a way that feels intentional, personal, and a little bit daring.
Let’s turn fabric chaos into quilt magic—together.

ZOOM Workshop - Legacy Wheel
January 13th
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (EST)

Gentle curves, bold blocks, and endless possibilities.  The curved seams in Legacy Wheel are soft, approachable, and perfect for anyone new to curved piecing.  If you're already comfortable with curves, you'll love how smoothly these blocks come together - no stress, just rhythm and flow.
Each block finishes at a striking 24 inches, so you can create a statement-size quilt in surprisingly little time.  In the Mixing Prints Masterclass portion, you will show how to break out of the "matching" mindset and start combining fabrics from different designers, collections, and eras with ease.
