Learn how to machine applique with a finished edge. I will take you through the steps from tracing your pattern on freezer paper, preparing the applique motifs and sewing them to your background fabric. We will also explore the various tools and products available to help you achieve professional results. There are many ways to applique. When I first started quilting, over forty years ago, I made a Baltimore Album quilt, using hand applique. Years later, I tried several techniques for doing machine applique. I have since developed my own method that I would like to share with you.

Workshop - Plastic Nature Workshop

Here’s a creative way to help clean up our planet: make art from single-use plastic packaging. Just collect them for a few weeks and you’ll discover a myriad of colors, thicknesses, patterns and textures available to you. With my guidance, you’ll make art inspired by nature from said plastic. I will show you how to prepare the plastic, cut it and stitch it by hand and machine. You will experiment with different types of stitching and finishes, and create an artwork like no other.
Techniques and skills covered in class: Learning the ins and outs of working with single-use plastic, composition, collage, hand stitching and basic embroidery, machine thread sketching, finishing, alternative display ideas.
Supplies: See the pdf below. Gather materials and we will combine them to share during the class.
