Please note that due to the great generosity of the guild members over the years, Sunshine has completely filled the storage unit and cannot accept any fabric donations at this time. Thank you!

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED:
  • Complete a quilt to donate - Lap size quilts are best and they can be for babies, kids, teens, or adults.
  • Make a kit - If you have a top, write the dimensions on a piece of paper, pin it to the top, and add in some fabric for the backing and binding. We'll supply the batting!
  • Sign out one of our kits - See the Sunshine Table at the back of the meeting room, find a kit you'd like to work on, sign it out, and bring it back when it's done. Kits include everything you need to complete a quilt and you can work on any stage (piecing, quilting, or binding) that you prefer.

WHAT SUNSHINE DOES:

Sunshine is the group that coordinates the charitable efforts of the Garden State Quilters Guild. We make baby quilts, lap quilts, and raffle quilts for delivery to local organizations such as: Jersey Battered Women's Shelter, Runnells Specialized Hospital, Children's Specialized Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, and ConKerr Cancer. Last year, Sunshine donated 149 quilts, 53 walker bags, 47 foley bags, 10 pillowcases, and 60 other items. on behalf of the GSQ.

WHAT GRANTS & SCHOLARSHIPS DOES:

This committee was formed to support the continued growth of quiltmaking as an art form and engage in charitable and educational activities. To these ends, Grants and Scholarships has recently made a contribution toward the restoration of an antique quilt, provided materials to a Girl Scout Troop for a sewing badge project, and helped defray the costs of making a quilt for a Habitat for Humanity house.
We welcome your suggestions of organizations that might benefit from our support, either financially or by organizing an activity; please let us know about them by emailing us at gs@gardenstatequilters.com or by submitting the application form.
